RIDING TO THE TOP IN PALM SPRINGS
Our favorite summer escape from the heat in Palm Springs is just minutes away. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway! Take the 10-minute ride from the valley station through Chino Canyon to Mt San Jacinto State Park and an elevation of 8,500 ft. Aside from the 30-degree temperature difference sure to cool you off, you will find restaurants, an observation deck allowing for breathtaking views of the entire Coachella Valley, and over 50 miles of hiking trails!
This is the largest rotating aerial tramway in the world, thrilling passengers since 1963 with canyon and valley views. The mountain station at the top boasts restaurants, a natural history museum, observation decks, a gift shop, over 50 miles of hiking trails, and more! And the temperatures range from 25-35 degrees cooler than the valley floor, making this the top choice for summer hikes. Stroll through the groomed paths available, or if you’re feeling more adventurous, hike to the top of Mt San Jacinto for another elevation gain of around 2,600 ft.
Have a drink at the Lookout Lounge, lunch at Peaks Restaurant, or lunch or dinner at the Pines Café so you can tell your friends you had a Mile High drink or meal!
